Admittedly, ATV is not a toy and kids regard anything with wheels that gives them some form of control as one. If you want Kids to be safe on ATVs, this is the first mindset you’ll have to change. And it’s not going to be an easy task – let us, first, warn you. However, as daunting as it is, Kids and ATV can exist safely. To help your Kid fathom the importance of riding their ATVs safely, you’ll have to try to keep in mind that they have a very short term memory and so are their views about life. Kids cannot imagine anything beyond the NOW, so, to deal with this issue, you’ll have to be first source of inspiration and give be a good reference point – in other words, be a good role model.
If the words “You have to wear your ATV helmet” have been issued to Kids, they have to see YOU wearing your helmet whenever you’re riding your ATV. Without which the advice will probably fall on deaf ears. Essentially, kids learn to emulate the people that they see, are around very often and admire at an early age. So, if you want to successfully impart ATV safety knowledge to Kids, you’ll have to first learn to embrace all the right attitudes to ATV riding.

Finally, manufacturers are starting to realize that girls ride ATV’s and dirt bikes too. How do we know? In past years, ATV’s and dirt bikes were made in 4 basic colors; Blue, Green, Yellow and Red. If you were a girl you had to choose red or yellow as the “Girl Color”. What was the fun in that? Being able to personalize your off-road product is what makes you an individual and we didn’t think girls should have to settle for red or yellow any longer.
Three years ago we asked our manufacturers in China to make pink plastics so that we could target female riders. They basically looked at us like we were crazy, but each year we continued to champion the fight for girl themed products. We wanted PINK, pink dirt bikes, pink ATV’s, pink helmets and pink riding gear.

There are a few things that are just given when you are talking about safety and kids ATVs. First, they should never ride adult size ATVs – ever! Second, they should always, always wear a child’s helmet. If these two conditions are not met, you are flirting with disaster.
You won’t let your child ride your adult size ATV, so they are driving you crazy to the get them one of their own. But where do you start when you are looking for a safe kids ATV? Look for the built-in safety features. Children do not have the strength or reflexes that adults have. They need additional safety features to help keep them safe.
