Finally, manufacturers are starting to realize that girls ride ATV’s and dirt bikes too. How do we know? In past years, ATV’s and dirt bikes were made in 4 basic colors; Blue, Green, Yellow and Red. If you were a girl you had to choose red or yellow as the “Girl Color”. What was the fun in that? Being able to personalize your off-road product is what makes you an individual and we didn’t think girls should have to settle for red or yellow any longer.

Three years ago we asked our manufacturers in China to make pink plastics so that we could target female riders. They basically looked at us like we were crazy, but each year we continued to champion the fight for girl themed products. We wanted PINK, pink dirt bikes, pink ATV’s, pink helmets and pink riding gear.

Six months ago, girl themed atvs and dirt bikes made their way to the USA. Extreme Motor Sales can now offer ATV’s and Dirt Bikes in pink, purple and pink camouflage. The sizes range from a small 50cc -110cc for girls and 150cc-250cc for women with matching pink helmets and pink gear to keep them safe and stylish.

In a 2006 national survey 37% of new ATV and dirt bike sales are to the female demographic, roughly 350,000 units. Female ATV and dirt bike ownership is on the rise with new colors and design options to entice the young and old riders alike. We can happily say that the Female demographic is no longer being ignored.

In a recent survey done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 1999 which shows that 80% of American women over the age of 65 operate one motorized vehicle or the other. Quite a surprising stat!

So ride on Girls & Women.

Riding isn’t just for boys anymore!

There are very few things more enjoyable for kids than riding an ATV. However, there are a few lessons every rider (especially a kid) should learn while getting ready to ride a kid ATV. Here are a few of them:

#1:	Watch What You Wear

Every rider should wear a helmet at all times. Proper eye protection should also be worn. Chest, knee, and elbow protectors are also an option.

While getting ready to ride a kid ATV the rider should also put on long pants and a long sleeved shirt no matter how warm it is outside. Also, boots should be worn and gloves are a good idea as well.

#2:	Safety First

Always review all the safety rules with the rider when getting ready to ride a kid ATV. Make sure the rider knows what is acceptable behavior and what isn’t acceptable behavior.

For smaller riders, the gear shift can be removed. Usually it’s recommended the ATV is put into second gear for this. The ATV will start out slowly but it won’t hurt the vehicle at all and it will limit its speed.

#3: Start Slowly

Riding an ATV or a similar recreational vehicle can be quite difficult to master. The way the brakes, shifter gear, starter, clutch, etc. work need to be practiced as well.

I remember as a kid letting my friend ride my dirt bike. I told him how to shift and how to let off the clutch. It took him a few tries but eventually he got going. However, I neglected to tell him where the brake was located. He could’ve just let the bike coast and eventually the engine would have cut out but he didn’t know that either. So he dumped the bike.

He wasn’t hurt but I learned a valuable lesson: Always make sure a rider knows everything there is to know before they start operating any type of machine.

While getting ready to ride a kid ATV, the rider should get used to sitting on the ATV and then steering it before the engine is even started.

Then after they’ve been taught about how everything works, an adult should run beside them holding the engine kill switch just in case.

Even when the rider seems ready to ride a kid ATV without any help, he/she should still be supervised at all times.

Riding an ATV is a lot of fun for adults and children alike. However, while younger riders are getting ready to ride a kid ATV, they need to be prepare correctly. This means that the kid should put on the proper clothes and protection, be instructed on all the safety rules, and be taught exactly how to ride the ATV.

There are a few things that are just given when you are talking about safety and kids ATVs. First, they should never ride adult size ATVs – ever! Second, they should always, always wear a child’s helmet. If these two conditions are not met, you are flirting with disaster.

You won’t let your child ride your adult size ATV, so they are driving you crazy to the get them one of their own. But where do you start when you are looking for a safe kids ATV? Look for the built-in safety features. Children do not have the strength or reflexes that adults have. They need additional safety features to help keep them safe.

Make sure you purchase an ATV that has an engine small enough for pint-size riders. Knowing the reputation of the manufacturer or dealer is also very important. You want to purchase a kids ATV from someone that you can trust to be upfront and honest with you. Ask around if you are not sure where to look. Look at several different dealers if necessary. Trust your gut! If you are not comfortable purchasing from the person you have been talking to – don’t!

Look for a kids ATV that is easy to manage and to maintain. You will need to keep the ATV maintained on a regular schedule. The ATV should be in top condition so that malfunctions do not add to the possibility of an accident. Make sure you are able to set a maximum speed limit on the ATV. This will prevent the old dilemma of telling your child not to go faster than a certain speed, and then they do it anyway. The ATV should be attractive to your child, but also durable. You do not want an ATV that is going to fall apart after a little wear and tear.

Talk to your children about how important safety is on an ATV. Let them know that their ATV is not a toy and should not be treated like one. If there are kids ATV education classes offered in your community, take them. Most often accidents are the result of a lack of knowledge.

Whether your child thinks it is cool or not, helmets are a must. Stress to your child that they absolutely must wear their helmet every time they are on their kids ATV. Helmets come in a variety of styles. Let them choose their helmet. This may make them a little more inclined to wear it. Do not let them wear hand-me-down adult helmets. Adult helmets are too big for children’s heads and will not provide any protection. If your child is involved in an accident, you should replace their helmet. Most helmets are only made for one impact.

If you follow these safety guidelines, and always supervise your children while they are riding, then they should have a great experience. They will learn to appreciate the safety precautions and love riding on their kids ATV.

So you’ve decided to buy a kid ATV or you’ve already bought one. Now you want to buy some accessories for it. Here are a few ideas for ATV accessories that you can get for your child and for the ATV.

There is a variety of kid ATV accessories that can be worn by the rider on an ATV. Most of these items help protect the rider but some of them are simply to help the rider look and feel better.

A helmet is one accessory that needs to be bought. Every rider – especially younger riders – must wear a helmet. There are many different types of helmets. Some simply protect the head while others extend beyond the head and protect the face as well. The more protection the helmet provides the better it is. That way the rider won’t have to worry about being poked and scratched by branches while riding.

It’s also a good idea to buy a pair of goggles while shopping for kid ATV accessories. Goggles will protect the eyes while riding. This is not only important to stop an eye injury but it’s also important so that the rider never has his/her vision blocked by mud or some other type of debris.

It’s also a good idea to buy other protective kid ATV accessories such as chest protectors, knee protectors, and elbow protectors. These types of protectors are essential if the ATV is going to be raced or ridden aggressively. But they’re also a good idea for everyday riding.

There are also many kid ATV accessories for the hands and feet. There are a variety of gloves and boots that can be worn while riding an ATV. Again, these accessories are essential for aggressive riding but can also be worn for basic recreational riding.

Jerseys and pants are also available as kid ATV accessories. These pants and jerseys provide a little more protection than normal clothes and they can also make for more comfortable riding.

If there is a lot of nighttime riding taking place, you will want to buy a headlight kit for the ATV. This will allow the rider to see at night. An auxiliary power supply can also be bought for many headlight kits.

There are many other kid ATV accessories that can be bought. Depending how involved your child is with his/her kid ATV, you may or may not want to buy some of the less useful accessories. Some of the other accessories include t-shirts and baseball caps.

Riding an ATV is a lot of fun for kids. It can become even more fun with a few kid ATV accessories. Many of these accessories can also help make the entire riding experience safer.

Kids All terrain vehicles (ATV’s) are used very harshly and can be very difficult to maintain if a routine maintenance is not included in their upkeep. Breakdowns can occur when driving and engine failure can also become a big issue. Maintaining the ATV is a mandatory job; some people don’t follow the basics and end up spending huge amounts of money on the repairs. However, once the damage is done there is no going back to the real thing.

Olson Powersports reccomends maintaining an ATV includes different steps which can be performed one after the other at least once every 3 months. Some steps include:

1. Engine Maintenance: Engine maintenance includes taking care of the spark plugs, changing the oil and taking care of the other major elements of the engine.

2. Spark Plugs: Due to the rough treatment of the engine on different sorts of terrains, the spark plugs get carbonized and can become a problem if the tips of the spark plugs are not cleaned every 3 months. The carbon stops the electricity flow to the engine hence reducing the horsepower and killing the throttle.

3. Oil: Oil and filter change are mandatory in maintaining an ATV. If not changed periodically, you may end up with a muddy engine block and bad oil which would harm the engine.

4. Block Treatment: The engine block as a whole need to be checked and cleaned every 6 months. While changing the oil you can use pressure pumps to clean the block and also force the unwanted oil deposits which can be harmful to the flow of the pistons.

5. Suspension Maintenance: ATV’s are one of the hardest running vehicles when it comes to different terrains usage. The suspension is the part of the Quad Bike used the most, especially when you’re dealing in muddy or gravel terrains.

6. ATV Boots: The rubber covers on the axels are called Boots. These ATV boots take the most about of terrain thrown bumps as they are in direct contact with the hub of the wheel and the ATV axel. The boots can be torn easily if in contact with rocky terrains as well, therefore exposing the joints which are vulnerable to breakage.

7. ATV Inner Joints: The inner joints are vulnerable to breakage and tearing issues. They come directly under the ATV Boots and if the boots are torn, the joints are exposed which causes them to break because of direct contact with the terrain.

These are essential parts of the ATV and you can get kids atvs on http://olsonpowersports.net These and others need to be checked, maintained, and if necessary, replaced. Maintaining an ATV is not a hard thing if the parts like ATV Boots or ATV Inner Joints are being monitored, and the oil changing is timely.
