Kids and ATV – A Dangerous Combination?
Admittedly, ATV is not a toy and kids regard anything with wheels that gives them some form of control as one. If you want Kids to be safe on ATVs, this is the first mindset you’ll have to change. And it’s not going to be an easy task – let us, first, warn you. However, as daunting as it is, Kids and ATV can exist safely. To help your Kid fathom the importance of riding their ATVs safely, you’ll have to try to keep in mind that they have a very short term memory and so are their views about life. Kids cannot imagine anything beyond the NOW, so, to deal with this issue, you’ll have to be first source of inspiration and give be a good reference point – in other words, be a good role model.
If the words “You have to wear your ATV helmet” have been issued to Kids, they have to see YOU wearing your helmet whenever you’re riding your ATV. Without which the advice will probably fall on deaf ears. Essentially, kids learn to emulate the people that they see, are around very often and admire at an early age. So, if you want to successfully impart ATV safety knowledge to Kids, you’ll have to first learn to embrace all the right attitudes to ATV riding.
